Jay Simecka To Run For Morris Co. Sheriff
Jay Simecka has announced his intent to run for the Office of Morris County Sheriff. He began his professional career in law enforcement with Shawnee County in 1992, serving as a Corrections Specialist with the Shawnee County Department of Corrections until 1994.
He was hired by the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff in 1994. Over his 26 year career he has served in various units as a deputy and supervisor to include, Patrol, Fugitive Warrants, Court Security, Public Information Officer, School Resource Officer, DARE Instructor and SWAT Team Commander. Promoted to the rank of Major in 2015, he oversaw the daily operations of nearly 200 staff members and served as the SWAT Team Officer–in-Charge. He was appointed to Undersheriff in July of 2019 where he currently serves.
