Commission Hears Soil Conservation Report, Hear Several Budget Requests
The Morris County Commissioners met on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 9 a.m. Commissioners Diana Jost, David L. Fox and Wayne Kohler were present.
Kraig Kirchner, Human Services Coordinator for Lyon and Morris Counties, reviewed the services provided by the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp (ECKAN) to low-income individuals and families. He presented population and poverty rate statistics for Morris County. ECKAN was established in 1966 as a Community Action Agency, and in recognition of its work in providing support and assistance to those in need, Commissioner Jost (Fox) moved to Proclaim the month of May as Community Action Month. Motion carried.
Commissioner Jost (Fox) moved to go into executive session at 9:55 a.m. for 15 minutes for a non-elected personnel matter, with William Kassebaum, county counselor, and the County Clerk present. Motion carried. Regular session resumed at 10:10 a.m.
Commissioner Fox (Jost ) moved to go back in executive session at 10:10 a.m. for an additional 10 minutes for the same reason and the same persons in attendance. Motion carried. Regular session resumed at 10:20 a.m. No action taken.
