Brooks Announces Candidacy For Mayor

City Council Member Mark Eric Brooks has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Council Grove.

Brooks says that being active in the community has always been a priority. He has spent 26 years in the Babe Ruth Baseball program serving as a coach, umpire, league president, assistant district commissioner and currently serving on the Kansas State Board of Directors as Assistant State Commissioner of the Cal Ripken 10-year-old division. Brooks is member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and is a member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus. He is also a member and former president of the Council Grove Rotary Club, has volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce for several years to give tours of Council Grove historic sites and participates in the Voices of the Wind People pageant locally.

Brooks also serves on the Santa Fe Trail Association Board of Directors. He is employed by the Kansas State Historical Society as Site Administrator of the Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store Museums on the Santa Fe Trail.
