Antique Parlor Organ Donated to MCHS
The Morris County Historical Society received an antique parlor organ last week, compliments of the Jeff Daniels and Karen Stanley families.
The ornate organ has spent most of its 115 years in Morris County and Council Grove. It is believed to have been acquired by Jeff and Karen’s great grandfather Countryman in approximately 1906, after the family arrived in northeast Morris County in 1905.
The organ has been passed down to the females in the family line. Those ladies are Anna Countryman, Mildred Wodke, Arthalene Daniels and Karen Stanley. Karen resides in Colorado and wanted the organ to stay where her ancestors had lived and played it.
The MCHS has placed the parlor organ in the Seth Hays Home, which is open for tours by appointment by calling 620) 767-7388 or emailing email@example.com
