The Council Grove High School Lady Braves wrestled their way to a respectable sixth-place finish as a team Friday and Saturday at the Circle Invitational Tournament in Towanda. Twenty-one teams were there, including several 4A and 5A programs.
Council Grove’s Tyler Hutchinson grabbed a thrilling championship match victory to lead the Braves to a fifth-place finish in the tough and prestigious Circle Invitational Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday in Towanda.
The Chase County High School Bulldogs came up short in a tightly contested road game Friday night, falling 46–40 to the Burlingame Bearcats.
I am sure that the USD 417 Superintendent and the School Board members all intend to be doing what is best for our students. But at the same time, they must also take into consideration the impact their actions will have on the community at large. The school system cannot thrive if the community does not thrive, and I believe that there are some adverse consequences which will be the result of voter approval of the proposed $31,500,000.00 school bond issue.
People from all walks of life look forward to Super Bowl Sunday. Diehard football fans may love each Sunday of the National Football League season, but even casual fans or people who typically don’t watch a game all season enjoy getting together with friends and family to watch the big game on Super Bowl Sunday.
