Through Your Eyes
STATE AWARD WINNERS . . .When the Council Grove Republican began the “Through Your Eyes” segment, we honored former photographer Bob Collins with an image of him, captured by Harold Gaston. It only seems fitting that we republish the two award-winning sports photographs taken by sisters Brandy Villalobos and Amber Weeks. In the recent Kansas Press Association’s 2024 Awards of Excellence, the top photo that we called “Fighting the Vikings”, taken by Villalobos, took first place in the state in our division. In the photo Council Grove’s Drew Buchman is surrounded by Mission Valley’s Vikings. Weeks’ photo of “The young and old cheering on the Braves” shows little Knute Fox greeting and encouraging the Braves. The photo placed third in the state.
