The Morris County Youth Rodeo Association invites the community to the 40th Annual Fall Ranch Rodeo on Sunday, October 4, at the Morris County Youth Rodeo Arena, 1.5 miles east of Council Grove on U.S. Highway 56.
Morris County’s first ranch rodeo — and the first held in Kansas — took place on October 5, 1986, at the old Rodeo Arena in Council Grove, west of the swimming pool where the northern ball fields are now located.
Since then, the annual event has continued on the first Sunday in October at 1 p.m., showcasing local talent, community spirit and ranch rodeo traditions, even as the lineup of events has changed over the years.
This year’s activities will begin with the Junior Ranch Rodeo at 10 a.m., followed by the Fall Ranch Rodeo at 1 p.m. Concessions will be available at the arena.
The event gives families and rodeo fans an opportunity to celebrate a longstanding Morris County tradition.
