Council Grove popped El Dorado, 60-12, in a boys’ wrestling dual Thursday night in Braves Gym to open the 2024-25 season. CG’s girls fell to the Wildcats, 24-40, but represented themselves well in the process.
Local Pastor Chris Carlson started a trend that at press time seemed to be gaining traction. Wednesday he left a gift card at Corks & Coffees at the Press Room. The purpose is to offer a soup or coffee on him, as a way to “pay it forward.” He is hoping that it will start a little blessing chain. The gift card will be active until the money runs out, but he is hoping the community will add to it.

The Council Grove High School Braves are set to begin their 20242025 basketball season with optimism and determination under the leadership of Head Coach Bruce Hula, who is entering his 20th year at the helm and 35th year overall in coaching. The team, which concluded the 2023-2024 season with an 8-13 record, looks to build on its experience and return to its winning ways in the competitive Flint Hills League.
