CG City Council to meet on Tuesday

The Council Grove City Council will meet for its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at City Hall, 205 N. Union St.

Early in the meeting, the council is scheduled to hear an appeal of the city’s grass code involving property at 405 Market St. and Daniel Mcualey.

The consent agenda includes approval of minutes from the previous meeting, proposed appropriations totaling $101,869.61, and Lake House transfers identified as E-4 and CW-4.

Following an opportunity for public comments on items not included on the agenda, department reports are scheduled from City Inspector James Masters and Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Zoey Wadick.

The city administrator’s report will include updates concerning the Katy Depot, Bayer Construction and the sewer project.

Several items are listed under business. Jenna Edwards is scheduled to discuss coed softball, followed by consideration of an H-3 fishing request. The council will also discuss KDOT Alternative Transportation and Phase 2 of the Safe Routes to School project.

Another item involves a director position on the Cottonwood and Neosho River Basins Water Assurance District No. 3.

Under the recommendation from the Streets and Parks superintendent and city administrator, the council will consider the appointment of Darrin Elstun and proposed wage adjustments.

The 2027 city budget is also listed for consideration.

Discussion items include a recreation sign and guidelines for the city’s 50/50 grant program.

The meeting will conclude with comments from the governing body and adjournment.
