A Celebration of Life service for Jack York will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 7, at the Dwight Cemetery. Friends and relatives are welcome to join.

Barbara Joan Zerbe, 83, died Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Halstead, KS.

Thomas Ernest Alexander was born December 4, 1945, in Emporia, Kansas to Robert and Georgie (Bolen) Alexander. He grew up on old Highway 4 where his family homesteaded and was raised as a ranch and farm hand during his youth. He was very involved in youth rodeos all over the country and was a natural when it came to athletics. He was involved in everything he could be involved in from roping to the yearbook staff.

Linda Verlene (Shearer) Price, born on March 29, 1949, in the charming town of Council Grove, Kansas, peacefully passed away at home on May 9, 2026. Linda was a beacon of light and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey through life was one marked by love, laughter, and an unyielding devotion to those she held dear.

James C. Strome, 67, Herington, Kansas died on May 11, 2026 at his home.

Gene D. Barr, 99, passed on to his eternal home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded in love by his family at his home near Diamond Springs, Kansas. Nearly a century earlier, Gene was born “Jean” Drummond Barr on November 23, 1926, to Carl Otto and Margaret Drummond Barr at the very same country home.

Shirley Jean (Stone) Messer, 85, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away on April 11, 2026.

Scott David Jenkins, 57 of Foley, AL passed away on November 27, 2025 in Foley, AL. He was bom on May 1,1968 to David & Linda (Darrenkamp) Jenkins in St. Joseph, Missouri. He spent most of his schoolage years in or near Council Grove, Kansas. Scott was married to Teresa Crawford Jenkins who preceded him in death on February 27, 2025.
