Peggy Jean Evans

Peggy Jean Evans, 90, of Howard, KS passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Sedan, KS. Peggy was born in Willow Springs, MO on October 29, 1932, the daughter or Lyle and Delma (Shryrock) VanNote.

Peggy was a graduate of the Houston, MO High School class of 1951. In 1952, Peggy married John Evans. Peggy and John were married for 57 years until John’s death of August 30, 2009. After high school, Peggy completed Beauty School, however, she dedicated her life to taking care of her family and their home.

Peggy loved to go fishing, working in her garden, picking berries, helping with the farm animals, and cutting and hauling wood. She enjoyed helping at the Howard Senior Center and continued to help deliver meals up until the past couple of years. Most of all, Peggy enjoyed her time with family and her grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by: five sons - David Evans and wife Kathy of Howard, KS, Lloyd Evans of Howard, KS, John Wesley Evans and wife Kathy of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Gary Evans of Howard, KS, and Kevin Evans and wife Lannie of Billings, MT; three sisters - Margorie Vanderbur of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Reynoso of Council Grove, KS, and Dorothy Hecht of Phoenix, AZ; 14 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, two brothers Lee and Don VanNote and a sister Linda Kay VanNote.

Cremation has been requested, with no public services scheduled at this time. Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Howard Senior Center and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
