Marvin Lee Tischhauser

Marvin Lee Tischhauser of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Marvin was born to Wilmer and Verna (White) Tischhauser on December 3, 1950, in Herington, Kansas. He grew up on a farm north of Wilsey and attended the Wilsey School through his Junior year. He graduated from Council Grove High School in 1968. Marvin went on to attend Kansas State University for three years until he came back to join his dad on the family farm. While at K State, he met and then married Marsha Frisbie on December 19, 1970. They settled on a farm north of Wilsey, where over the next 50 years, they lived and raised a family.

Marvin loved his family so very deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. Whether at ball games, while working together, or just hanging out, he was so proud of each one of them. Taking care of all those he loved was a huge part of Marvin’s life.

Also an integral part of everything Marvin did was his faith in God. He loved his church family and enjoyed working with everyone while teaching Sunday School, occasionally filling the pulpit, serving at the district level, and washing dishes. Through all of his life’s challenging times, he always maintained his faith and love for God.

Marvin believed that part of his service to God was caring for God’s earth. He always wanted to leave every piece of land better than when he started farming it. He felt like he didn’t own the land, but that he was a steward for God. Marvin was proud to be passing that stewardship onto the next generation. He also enjoyed being a seedsman. It gave him the opportunity to know and work with so many people, many of whom became good friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Marsha; his brother Michael (Beverly) of Council Grove; four sons: Christopher (Cathy Blair) of Campbell, California; Chad (Stacey) of Wilsey, Kansas; Lance (Veronica) of Wilsey, Kansas; Lucas (Klarisa) of Shawnee, Kansas. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Madison, Branton (Bianca, fiance), Peyton, William, Malachi, and Lillyan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 5:30, Sunday, June 25th, at Sawyer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at White City Methodist Church Monday, June 26th at 10:30.
