Lola Mary Metcalfe
Lola Mary Metcalfe, formerly of White City, died Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Salina Regional Health Center. She was born on May 18, 1942, at Council Grove, the daughter of Vern L. and Lorena (Decker) Estes. She went to the Garner School, (a one room school house), and graduated from White City High School in 1960. She married Benny L. Metcalfe, August 26, 1960, at Council Grove. She liked to read autobiographies, collecting antiques, and researching genealogy. She was crafty and liked needlepoint and playing BINGO at V.F.W. of Herington and the casinos. Rodeos were fascinating to her and she thought the bull riding was the best. She is preceded in death by a brother, Walter Estes in 1999; a sister, Carol Price in 2002; her father, Vern Estes in 1998; and her husband, Benny in 2009. She is survived by a son, Milton Metcalfe of Herington; two daughters, Angel Harold (Johnney) of Hope and Bennie Wallace of White City; her mother, Lorena Estes of Council Grove; one brother, Vern “Tinker” Estes of White City; two sisters, Janet Gaither of Joplin, Peggy Barber of White City; seven grandchildren, Clayton Kidd, Clin-ton Kidd, Caleb Kidd, Bill Wallace, Megan Wallace, Jonathan Wallace, Heather (Metcalfe) Kimery; and 15 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington, with Rev. Darrell Geist, officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception at Uncle Bob’s Bowling Alley in Herington.
