Leslie Martin Johnson

Leslie Martin Johnson died June 22, 2027, in Port Angeles, WA, culminating a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Leslie was born September 9, 1945, to Leonard and Harriett Johnson of Wilsey, KS. He graduated from the Wilsey High School in 1963 and attended the University of Kansas. He obtained a political science degree in 1967 and a masters in pubic administration in 1969. He was active in ROTC, and served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973. He obtained the rank of captain as an intelligence officer stationed in Thailand and Germany.

Leslie dedicated his career to public service, holding management positions in Benton Harbor, MI, Blaine, MN, and with the Regional Transit Board in St. Paul, MN. Lastly, he served 25 years with the Minneapolis St. Paul Metropolitan Airports Commission, retiring in 2011.

Leslie is survived by his wife, Marlene Prillwitz Johnson, whom he married on September 11, 1976, in Benton Harbor, MI. He is also survived by two daughters, Janelle Doolittle of Port Angeles, WA, and Meredith DeRenzis of Hermosa Beach, CA, as well as their husbands Brian Doolittle and Darin DeRenzis, and four grandchildren: Kayla and Jamieson Doolittle and Matteo and Ruby DeRenzis. He has five surviving siblings: Jeanette Bloness, Loren Johnson, Judeen Bachura, Joette Payton and Lindley Johnson. His brother Lyle preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Leslie on August 7, 2026, in the Independent Bible Church of Port Angeles, where he was an active member.
