Jean was born in Herington, Kansas, on May 26, 1939, to Harold and Helen (Whipple) Anderson of Hope, Kansas. Jean met her best friend and husband of 60 years in Herington, Kansas, during a church youth group roller skating party. Jean prided herself in being a wonderful mother, grandmother, farm wife, church community member, and nurse’s assistant at the Herington Municipal Hospital.

Jean will always be remembered for her strong faith and continuous dedication to her church community serving as a Sunday School Teacher and women’s group member. Her love for her faith and family started from a young age when she helped her father clear the land and helped build the King Solomon Christian Camp outside of Solomon, Kansas, which is still active and teaching children about Jesus to this day. Jean was a tough and strong, yet tender and understanding woman who cared for everyone she knew.

Jean was welcomed to Heaven by her husband, Eugene Ecklund, her parents, Harold and Helen (Whipple) Anderson, siblings Bill (Grace) Anderson, Marie (Holland) Stewart, Lucille (Lee) Lake, Elva (Delmar) Sandow, Glen (Evelyn) Anderson, Edward Anderson, Mary Burch, grandson Matthew Spriggs, and many extended family members.
