James C. Adkins

James C. Adkins passed away in Salina June 17, 2025. Jim was born on February 21, 1949, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to J.C. and Sylvia Nichols Adkins.

He lived in many different places due to his dad’s military career, including Colorado where he attended high school. He worked mostly in sales and auto tech for over 30 years in both Colorado and Kansas. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, auto racing, attending his children’s ball games, and was an avid book reader and crossword solver.

Jim was father to four children with Della Richards of Council Grove: James Adkins, Shane Adkins, Jennifer Adkins, and Rita Adkins. He was stepdad to Della’s four older children: Jonathan Wiens, Katherine Montague, Colleen Battle, and Beth Wiens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry, sister Colette Pryor, daughter Jennifer, and grandson Coy Adkins.

He is survived by his loving partner Glenda Tompkins of the home, his sister Sherry Adkins of Sandy, Utah, seven children and stepchildren, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of life for James C. Adkins will be held at Oakdale Park, Shelter House 1, Salina, KS, on August 2nd from 11am to 2 pm.
