Elizabeth Mae Prose

Elizabeth Mae (Goodrick) Prose, 97, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday morning, November 15, 2025, at home in Little River.

She was born on September 27, 1928, the fourth child of to Harry and Lena (Greibel) Goodrick at home in rural Little River. She was the first daughter, with three older brothers, Byron, Howard and LeRoy. She was named after her two grandmothers, Elizabeth Greibel and Mae Goodrick. Being the first daughter in the family, she was called “Sis” by all the family members, and Aunt Sissie by all her nephews and nieces, to this day.

On April 10, 1948, she and Lea Everett Prose were married at the family’s home on her mother’s birthday, who died two years earlier in Arizona, where her doctor sent her to live, because of her asthma, and her dad worked on a turkey farm. Her brother, Howard, and brotherin- law, Warren Prose, went to town to get her flowers for her wedding. It was a very windy day, and the flowers blew out and across the barnyard, but they still looked nice and smelled good, so they were alright.

Lea and Elizabeth were married 46 years, before Lea’s death September 26, 1994.

Elizabeth is survived by her 4 children, Patricia (Carl) Smitheran, Bob Prose, Loretta (Bob) Birchard, and Richard (Vivian) Prose. Grandchildren, Brent Smitheran, Troy Prose, Amy Prose, Amber Prose, Justin Birchard, Clinton Prose, Julie Waltemath, Andrew Birchard, Marija Birchard and Kohl Prose, and 8 great grandchildren.

Elizabeth was proceeded in death by her husband Lea, grandson, Ryan Lynn Prose, parents, Harry and Lena Goodrick, brothers Byron Goodrick, Howard Goodrick, LeRoy Goodrick, and sister Marcelee Webb Samms.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 22, at the Congregational Church in Little River.
