Doris Jane Pearson, Emporia, Kansas, died on March 5, 2024, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 90 years old.

Doris was born in Council Grove, Kansas, on January 30, 1934, the daughter of Milam and Wilma Lucille (Reasoner) Hanson. She married Melvin E. Pearson on February 15, 1952, in Alta Vista, Kansas. Melvin passed away on October 9, 1998, in Emporia, Kansas. Doris Jane Pearson, Emporia, Kansas, died on March 5, 2024, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 90 years old.

Doris was born in Council Grove, Kansas, on January 30, 1934, the daughter of Milam and Wilma Lucille (Reasoner) Hanson. She married Melvin E. Pearson on February 15, 1952, in Alta Vista, Kansas. Melvin passed away on October 9, 1998, in Emporia, Kansas.

Doris is survived by her sons Scott (Marla) Pearson, Emporia, KS; Shawn (Krystee) Pearson, Rose Hill, KS; daughter Susan (Roy) Shade, Council Grove, KS; daughter-inlaw Ellie Pearson, Wichita, KS; sisters Phyllis Kerr, Joplin, Mo.; Mary (Roger) Matthews, Florence, AZ.; grandchildren Kim (Dane) Becker, Tyson (Jessica) Young, Hilary (Geoff) Louvar, Kristian (Elizabeth) Pearson, Adam Pearson, Kelsey (James) Parks, Chelsea (Matt) Vibert, Ethan Pearson, Tarah (Tyler) Isbell; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. To all of those grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Doris was Granny, and was greatly loved. She had a way of making each of them feel special and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Mel, daughter Shelly, brother Jim Hanson, son Steven Pearson, grandson Nathanial Pearson and great grandson Bryce Becker.

Mel and Doris were Foster Parents to over 100 foster children. Together, they managed apartments in Kansas City and Emporia, after Mel retired from Fairmont Dairy Company.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene, Emporia, Kansas, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to Hand In Hand Hospice or the Wounded Warriors, sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas, 66801.
