Cynthia Engle of Council Grove died peacefully at her home on November 21, 2022 following a brief bout with cancer.
Born to Walter and Genevieve Hembrow of Council Grove on September 11, 1938, she was a career New York State school teacher before returning home to Council Grove in 1998. Since that time, she actively contributed to the community as a substance abuse counselor, substitute teacher, and Mayor of Council Grove from 2007-2012.
She is survived by her sons Troy Hembrow Engle and spouse Katrina (of Singapore) and Ryan Hembrow Engle and spouse Jennifer (of Hawaii). She has five grandchildren: Nawen (San Diego), Lily and Calder (Hawaii) and Kassidy and Troy Wayne (Singapore).
Services will be held at a later date.
