Carolyn Sue Ray

Carolyn Sue Ray of Hillsboro, Kansas suffered a devastating medical event on January 13, 2025, and she was transported to Wichita for care. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts she passed away at St. Francis Hospital on January 15, 2025.

She was the daughter of Mary (Holm) and Fred Roberts. She was born in Council Grove Hospital on August 30, 1949, and lived in Parkerville for 16 years until her family moved to Potwin, Kansas, and she attended Remington High School. It is here where she met and married Chuck Foulk. They had two children, MaLinda and DeWayne.

Carolyn worked as a CNA and Medication Aide at the Whitewater Nursing Home.

On March 25, 2005, Carolyn married her husband Harvey Ray, a US Navy veteran. They spent the next 20 years enjoying life in Hillsboro. She loved going to functions in conjunction with the American Legion, helping them coordinate events and spending time with her family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to attend any planned Roberts family get togethers.These events always gave her great joy. She also liked to cross stitch, golf, fish, cook and spend time outdoors. It was widely known that she had quite the green thumb and could bring any struggling house plant back to life and make it flourish. She was a hard worker her entire life with a work ethic like no other; from Avon to Tupperware, cleaning houses or working at the golf course, she always kept herself busy.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary and her brother Larry. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 20 years Harvey Ray, her daughter MaLinda Moomey (Steven) her son DeWayne (Kathy), 7 grandchildren Jennifer, Robyn, Stacie, Nicholas, Daniel, Thomas and Rachel, 4 great grandchildren, 3 brothers Marvin (Donna), Gerry (Tracey), and Gary (Ann) and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be February 15, at 11 a.m., at the Parkerville Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Parkerville Cemetery.
