JoAnn Stone Thomas Robert Stone

JoAnn Stone, 76, passed away January 26, 2022, at Geary Community Hospital, Junction City. Thomas Robert Stone, 78, passed away June 3, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

JoAnn was born December 7, 1945, in Scotts Bluff, NE, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel Deeder Thurman. She grew up there and moved to Colorado where she met and married Tom on January 26, 1965.

Thomas was born November 5, 1944, in Council Grove, the son of George and Marjorie Roberts Stone.

Both lived in Commerce City, CO before moving to Kansas. Joann worked for over 30 years at Rex Materials in Council Grove. Thomas was a self-employed welder, owning Tom’s Welding for 31 years. They both enjoyed many years bowling together in Council Grove. They both enjoyed their family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include their daughters, Lisa Stone, Hastings, NE and Dee Dee (Darren) Graber, Warsaw, MO; her brother, Ed Thurman, Sequim, WA; his brothers, Alvin Stone, Council Grove, KS and Roy Stone, Timnath, CO; his sisters, Carol Stone, Wamego, KS, Norma Buckridge, Council Grove, KS, and Elaine Jackson, Georgia; grandchildren, James Lewis, Osage Beach, MO; Mandy Kaufman, Moundridge, KS, Samantha Davis, Newton, KS, Tabatha Davis, Newton, KS, and Slade Davis, Hesston, KS; and 5 great grandchildren, Raymond Kaufman, Oakley Jolliff, Paxton Kaufman, Knox Wulf and Hannah Sanchez.

They were preceded in death by their parents; her four brothers and three sisters; and his one brother and three sisters.

Both JoAnn and Thomas were cremated. Family will have a private inurnment at a later date in Council Grove. Memorial contributions in their memory may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Inman Funeral Home; PO Box 490; Inman, KS 67546.
