Kay Edward Blankley

Kay Edward Blankley, 81, passed away at his home with family by his side on December 31, 2021.

Kay was born January 11, 1940 in Council Grove to Vere and Dorothy (Hylton) Blankley. He attended Council Grove schools where football was his passion.

After school he served in the Army from 1958-1960, serving 18 months in Germany. Returning home in March 1960, he went to work for Fairmont Creamery, working 24 years in Council Grove. When Fairmont closed he transfered to their plant in Kansas City, where he worked for 8 years until his retirement in 1991. He then went to work for the Morris County Road Department, retiring in 2007.

On October 2, 1962 he married Alice Kay Cornelius. They were married 59 years and the parents of 2 children.

His family was his most precious joy. He was always there for them from sports, family vacations to babysitting.

He is survived by his wife Alice Kay, of the home; daughter: Tammy Marlar and husband Greg, Manhattan; son: Troy Blankley, Council Grove; grandchildren: Ashley Spaulding (Davin), Wade Marlar (Taylor), and Paige Highly (Logan); great-grandchildren: Rylee and Cambree Spaulding, Ashlynn Marlar, Dawson Blankley, and Chaz, Ralissa and Hunter Smith; and a brother: Hiram Blankley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Kyle and Trista Smith, brothers: Duane, Don and Ralph, and sisters: Alice and Mary.

Cremation has taken place and a family inurnment at the Dunlap Cemetary will take place at a later date.
