Council Grove Jr/Sr High School had the opportunity to host a special guest, Amado Espinoza. He is a Bolivian musician who specializes in the indigenous music of North and South America. Amado composes music, builds, and invents high quality instruments. He’s known by some as El hombre de los cien instrumentos - the man of one hundred instruments. Amado’s presentation focused on the instruments from his home, the Andean mountains. All instruments used are built using animals and plants provided by the natural world in the Andes Mountains. Some instruments are meant to replicate the sounds of nature such as various species of birds and even the sound of wind passing through a cave. Mr. Meals met Amado 6 years ago through an ambitious international collaboration project that brought together musicians from North and South America and Russia.
