11u BASEBALL-The Grove 11u baseball team competed in the 2022 11u Twin Oaks Summer Slam (A) tournament held over the weekend at Twin Oaks Sports Complex in Manhattan. The team got off to a slow start in the tournament, falling short in game one and two during pool play against the Topeka Pirates and the Junction City Upper Deck. The team was in last place heading into quarterfinals and beat the Perry Avengers 12-10 to put them into the semifinals against the first ranked Manhattan Barnstormers. The Grove team pulled off a big upset to win 11-9 over the Barnstormers to head to the championship game against the Upper Deck. The team fought hard, but could not pull off the victory and brought home the second place trophy. City Council To Meet

The Council Grove City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at City Hall. On the agenda is a follow-up discussion on the city’s duck ordinance, remarks from USD 417 Superintendent Aron Dody, a Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail Committee request from Jan Sciacca and Harry Maddux, a Police and Fire Committee recommendation regarding Jonathan Mayhill, an ordinance establishing qualifications for City Attorney and Assistant City Attorney, an Office Committee recommendation for the appointment of Brian Henderson as Assistant City Attorney, Building and Trades Board recommendations for ordinance amendments, an Office Committee recommendation for the appointment of Dan Drube as City Inspector and an executive session regarding the Council Grove City Lake.
