Commissioners Hear Gravel Road Traffic, Poison Hemlock Concerns

Washunga Days has announced that Myles Gant (left) and Jeff Blosser will be serving as Junior Grand Marshal and Grand Marshall for the Washunga Days 2022 parade. “Jeff Blosser and Myles Gant truly embody the heart and spirit of Council Grove,” they said in a Facebook post. “We are excited to celebrate them at our 2022 festival parade!. On June 2, Tucker Currie, Manhattan, was traveling north on US-77 in a 2014 Kenworth Semi-Truck and swerved to avoid a head-on collision with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Bryce Madden-Lamastres, Wamego, which was traveling south and crossed the center line. Madden-Lamastres’ Silverado impacted the passenger side of Currie’s vehicle causing more than $1,000 in damage.
The annual meeting of Care and Share, Inc. will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, at the Morris County Courthouse basement meeting room. Attendees are asked to use the lower-level south doors accessible from the parking lot. Masks are optional. The business meeting agenda will include a yearly summary of the assistance Care and Share has given within the service area, a financial report and election confirmation of executive board directors. The Care and Share organizational and focus area goals will be reviewed and discussed. Any residents of the Care and Share service area of Morris County and USD 417 are welcome to attend.
On June 4, Brett Wright, Council Grove, and passengers Nicole Wright, Colter and Bailey, were traveling eastbound on US-56 Highway when the vehicle struck a deer that entered the roadway from the north ditch. Damage was done to the front end of the vehicle, a 2022 GMC Acadia. No injuries were reported.
