USD 417 Board To Meet

The USD 417 Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday at the USD 417 District Office. On the agenda for discussion will be KASB recommended policy updates and 2022-2023 COVID-19 operation guidelines. Action items include KASB Workers Compensation Fund member participation agreement, loyalty credit program agreement and premium payment; replacement bid for the CGES cooling systems; USD 417 22-23 Academic Calendar; MHIT Grant; and Safe and Secure Schools grant. There will also be executive sessions for personnel and negotiations.

The Sounds Of Washunga Days -- Headliners

PECOS & THE ROOFTOPS -- Pecos & the Rooftops had breakouts success with their 2019 hit single “This Damn Song,” which as now been streamed over 55 million times on Spotify. Led by Pecos Hurley, the band released the Red Eye E.P. in 2020 and single “Time For Wine” in 2022. Described as a mix of mid-tempo country, folk and southern rock, the band will perform at Washunga Days on June 17 at 10 p.m.

Artist Jim Clements will be one of the featured vendors at Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail 2022. Clements is an oil painter and says that he feels painting represents the ultimate freedom. “My desire is to honor the spirit of the west in each painting I do,” he said. Clements has been featured in USA Today, Rodeo Attitude and Better Horse magazines and his works are displayed in galleries throughout Kansas, Texas, Colorado and South Dakota. In addition, actors Barry Corbin and Robert Fuller are among the collectors of his art. His home studio is located in the Flint Hills and the art he brings to Council Grove will not disappoint.
