MARQUETTE TRADING COM- PANY -- Teresa of the Marquette Trading Company will be a featured vendor at the Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail 2022. A living history performer for more than 25, she will have something available for everyone, including wooden toys, straw hats for men and women and many other items. “Please stop by and see me while you are attending this wonderful event,” said Teresa. “You will have a great time learning and seeing history!” Her work can also be found on Etsy.com under the store name @historichatlady. The Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail 2022 will be held on July 15-16 at Neosho Riverwalk Park.

Some Flint Hills-area food pantries are serving more clients as a new study indicates a statewide increase in food pantry usage.

CGAF SCHOLARSHIPS -- The Council Grove Area Foundation has announced that Aubrey Powell (right) has been awarded three scholarships made available through the Council Grove Area Foundation. Powell was awarded the Katie Buchanan Gant Scholarship in the amount of $1,500, the Jordan Kelley Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500 and the Jesse England Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500. “It was an emotional moment as there is a deep understanding of how these scholarships were made possible,” said CGAF Executive Director Amy Honer (pictured left). “May we always remember the lives of Katie, Jesse and Jordan.” Powell will be completing her nursing degree in the fall at Emporia State University.
