WIDOW MAKER

WIDOW MAKER

WIDOW MAKER -- Jedediah Grimm aka “The Widow Maker” will be one of the many reenactors featured at the Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail on July 15-16. Jedediah is an outlaw, gambler and gun for hire. He does have a price on his head that goes back to the civil war. It was during the war that he met outlaw Levi Cord while they both rode under the command of Captain Bloody Bill Anderson. Jedediah and Levi’s trails parted ways for many years after the war. His specialty was robbing banks, stagecoaches and the occasional train. One bank job in particular caused the well-known bounty hunter and lawman, Dawg, to pursue him relentlessly. A few months back, Jedediah ran into Levi Cord again in the Flinthills and they have been riding together since. Rumor has it they’ve set their sights on the Bank of Council Grove. So if you see Jedediah Grimm, do NOT confront him, but rather hop on your horse and report it to your nearest Marshall. Jedediah has a bounty of $7,500; wanted dead or alive.

Board Approves Cooling System Bid, Mental Health And SRO Grant Applications

The USD 417 Board of Education, on Monday, approved a bid for the replacement of several rooftop cooling units at Council Grove Elementary School. The units were damaged during the December wind storm in the area. Superintendent Aron Dody stated that, luckily, the units damaged were old and would have needed to be replaced in the future and that, due to insurance, costs for replacement were substantially lower than they would have been otherwise. The cost of replacement is approximately $30,000, of which about $13,000 will be covered by the district’s insurance policy.
