The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now accepting nominations for county committee members. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA) for members. LAAs are elective areas for FSA committees in a single county or multi-county jurisdiction. This may include LAAs that are focused on an urban or suburban area.

Kansas State University has announced the names of those earning honors during the spring 2022 semester. Those earning honors from Council Grove were Jim Gant, Abigail Hodges, Hailey Hower and Myka Watkins. Others earning honors from the local area were: Rebekah Hutchinson, Delavan; and Justus Rucker, Herington.

CHARLIE GOODNIGHT -- Paul Gray will portray Charlie Goodnight at the Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail 2022. Gray began his reenacting career portraying Gen. George Armstrong Custer at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Gray also does presentations on the history of the vaquero and the cattle drive era, recites western poetry and performs ballads by Marty Robbins as poetry. At the Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail, Gray will portray Charlie Goodnight, know as the Father of the Texas Panhandle and famous for his partnership with Oliver Loving. The pair would develop the Goodnight Loving Trail and would become important figures in Texas ranching history.
