Ethan Burton was recruited not for what he accomplished the most doing. Instead, Arkansas Tech University football coaches liked the Council Grove High incoming senior for something God blessed him with.
Today the Council Grove Republican is sharing its Flint Hills newspaper with every business and residence in Chase County, in addition to its regular valued subscriber base. Today’s edition contains a Flint Hills Craftsman from Chase County, a legal notice from Cottonwood Falls and the schedule for the Chase County Fair.
The third Up the Creek Kayak Challenge was held Saturday morning on the Council Grove Reservoir. Eighty-eight kayaks launched from Marina Cove and participated in the poker-run style event.
The sheriff of Chase County announced his retirement Tuesday.
FLAG RETIREMENT -- The Burnley Memorial Library in Cottonwood Falls is now a host location for an official U.S. Flag Retirement Box. The box was provided by the National Association of Counties (NACo) for the proper disposal of worn American flags. Since 2016, NACo has provided more than 2,000 counties across the country with flag retirement boxes.
