Council Grove High School’s volleyball team takes its 7-1 Flint Hills League record to Central Heights tonight as the Lady Braves continue their quest for a league title.
Four local ladies traveled from Council Grove to Wichita on Friday, to present a program about the local Madonna of the Trail Statue. Monna Metzger, Phyllis Metzger, Connie Essington, and Donna Frese joined the Martha Loving Ferrell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for a salad luncheon and fellowship.
Council Grove’s junior varsity picked up a 12-6 overtime win against the Burlington Wildcats Monday night at Legion Field. The win moves the JV record to 4-0 so far.
With September being National Suicide Awareness month, it is important to recognize and support a local organization called Together With Veterans and Morris County. The purpose of the group, which was established about two years ago, is to “enlist rural veterans, and their local partners, and to join forces to reduce veteran and civilian suicides in our communities.”
The Council Grove High School cross-country Braves traveled to Rim Rock Farm at Lawrence on Saturday for perhaps the biggest race of the season on what many consider to be the best course in the entire nation.
