The Council Grove Braves went toe-to-toe with the Osage City Indians in Flint Hills League Tournament play, but came up short in a 58–49 loss to the No. 3 seed Thursday night.
Agricultural waste poses a challenge for farmers, even if the subject does not garner a lot of attention outside of rural areas. Farms generate enormous amounts of organic waste, including crop residues, fruit peels, sawdust, and livestock manure. Farmers must decide how to get rid of agricultural waste legally and economically.
The 2026 Council Grove Junior High Spelling Bee was held on January 20, at 1 p.m. at the Council Grove Jr/Sr High School Auditorium. Participants went 16 rounds.
Due to the incoming winter storm, the Flint Hills League Shootout schedule has been adjusted. Both the girls and boys teams will now play on Thursday, January 22. The girls game is scheduled for 12 p.m., followed by the boys game at 1:30 p.m. Games originally scheduled for Saturday have been moved to Friday.
