USPS to impose fuel surcharge on Priority Mail, other products

WASHINGTON (WIBW) — The U.S. Postal Service is seeking a temporary 8% charge on certain popular products, including Priority Mail, to help blunt the impact of rising transportation costs. USPS filed notice on Wednesday with the Postal Regulatory Commission seeking the price increase, which would take effect on April 26 and remain in place until Jan. 17, 2027, pending final approval.

The Council Grove High School Braves track and field team enters the 2026 season with a blend of experienced upperclassmen and a promising group of underclassmen, a combination that has head coach Derron Reddick optimistic about the team’s potential. “We are excited to see how the year pans out with our strong mixture of experience and talented underclassmen,” Reddick said. “Our team this year is balanced talent-wise across numerous events, and we should have many who have a chance at competing for state qualification.” With depth across sprints, distance, field events, and relays, the Braves appear positioned to be competitive throughout the season as athletes develop and refine their specialties.
