John Steinkuehler Wins Pigskin Pick-‘Em

John Steinkuehler, of Council Grove, was selected in a random drawing between him and Penny True, both of whom guessed 45 as the total points of the tiebreaker score in the San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers game. The Packers trounced the 49ers 38-10, making the winning tiebreaking score 48. Brian Gant was close behind with a tiebreaking score of 44. All three contestants correctly guessed 14 out of 17 contests. Steinkuehler will receive a $25 gift certificate that is redeemable at any of the contest sponsors.

CGHS Bravettes Place 4th And Cheer Places 6th In State

The Council Grove High School Bravettes placed 4th out of 16 talented teams in the 3-2A division, having made the finals for five consecutive years. Cheer made finals for the first time in school history and competed against 31 talented 3A teams, which is the largest division. They fought hard and earned a 6th place finish.

Council Grove’s Historic Run Comes To A Close

The Council Grove Braves historic playoff run came to an end Friday night as the #4-ranked, 13-seeded Braves fell to the #2-ranked, 3-seeded Nemaha Central Thunder, 21-6, in the 2A Sub-State Football Championship in Seneca, Kansas.
