The Council Grove Elementary School electronic sign read 102 degrees at 1 p.m. on Tuesday when the students were surprised with a gift from the Council Grove Fire Department. Fireman Travis Kopf, who is also a head cowboy at NextGen Cattle Company in Alma, was the fireman who literally showered the CGES students in all grades with mist from the fire truck, which pumped from a nearby hydrant.
