SOS Child Advocacy Center Reaccredited

The SOS Child Advocacy Center has been awarded reaccreditation by National Children’s Alliance following an extensive application and site review process. As the accrediting agency for Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) across the country, National Children’s Alliance awards various levels of accreditation and membership to centers responding to allegations of child abuse in ways that are effective and efficient and put the needs of child victims of abuse first. Accreditation is the highest level of membership with National Children’s Alliance and denotes excellence in service provision.

Morris County Drought Emergency Declaration

Governor Laura Kelly has approved updated drought declarations for Kansas counties with Executive Order #23-04. “Kansans have been resilient in the face of drought this past year,” said Governor Kelly. “Even with some regions receiving significant rainfall, I strongly encourage all Kansans to continue to be mindful of ways we can conserve water and minimize fire hazards.”

The Council Grove Elementary School electronic sign read 102 degrees at 1 p.m. on Tuesday when the students were surprised with a gift from the Council Grove Fire Department. Fireman Travis Kopf, who is also a head cowboy at NextGen Cattle Company in Alma, was the fireman who literally showered the CGES students in all grades with mist from the fire truck, which pumped from a nearby hydrant.
