Sandy Crichton Luder, of Chase County, recently spotted a possum walking along the roadside in front of her home. A few days later, she captured these morning photos just 10 feet from her house—only to realize upon closer look that the possum was carrying her young.
Council Grove Marina is having a Foat-a-palooza Saturday, June 14, where you can unwind and enjoy a relaxing day on their floating parrot patio. This will be an all-day, comeand-go event, 8 a.m. to close. They will have biscuits and gravy, waffles, French toast sticks through the morning hours. Pizza, hot dogs, snacks, cold drinks, and margaritas all day long. They also have popular “Cheers to 10 Years” tanks, t-shirts and hoodies.
The USD 417 Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting tonight, beginning at 6 p.m. at the District Office Board Room, located at 17 Wood Street in Council Grove.
The Council Grove Area Foundation (CGAF) has announced the recipients of its 2025 Community Grants Program. This year, more than $21,000 was awarded to local organizations to support community initiatives that enrich the lives of Morris County residents.
For the first time since 1999, Council Grove will once again host the Santa Fe Trail Association’s biennial symposium this fall, and preparations by the Heart of the Flint Hills Chapter are already well underway.
