Morris and Chase Counties in federal request for aid
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has requested federal assistance for 17 Kansas counties affected by severe storms and flooding between June 3 and June 7, 2025. In a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Gov. Kelly asked for a major presidential disaster declaration under the Public Assistance Program, citing significant damage to public infrastructure. She emphasized the need for federal support to help rural electric cooperatives and municipally owned utilities rebuild electric utility systems damaged during the storms.
