Ziegler, VanValkenburg Win Regional Titles, Wrestlers Qualify For State

The Council Grove High School Braves Boys Wrestling team competed at Regionals in Rossville on Friday, with Tom VanValkenburg winning a Regional Title and both VanValkenburg and Wyatt Johnson qualifying for the State Tournament. VanValkenburg was the 120 pound

VanValkenburg was the 120 pound Regional Champion and completed his regular season undefeated at 17-0. VanValkenburg is a four-time state qualifier and back-to-back Regional Champion.

Also qualifying for State was Wyatt Johnson at 126 pounds. Johnson lost a close semi-finals match, but was able to pick up two wins on the backside of the bracket to qualify for State. Johnson was 14-5 during the regular season.
