RIVERWALK MURAL -- The Riverwalk Mural on the east side of the old Duckwalls building is nearing completion following a $4,000 grant to the Community Arts Council from the Kansas Creative Arts Commission. The initial design and work was done by members of the Historic Preservation Corporation and the Community Arts Council, who received a “Partners in Pride” Grant from the state for the mural and work was completed in October. Volunteers began work to complete the mural several weeks ago, adding the image of a Kanza Brave to the mural, as well as silhouetted figures that represent the various cultures that gave the Flint Hills their unique history.
