Little Community Thrift Store Has Done Big Things Since 1975
Council Grove’s Community Thrift Store might be small in stature, but that has never stopped it from accomplishing big things and it will accomplish another big thing next year when it turns 45.
The Community Thrift Store was started in 1975 by Helen Buchman and operated in the basement of the old Council Grove Methodist Church. It later moved the basement of Buchman’s home until it could be re-opened at a location on the corner of South Mission and Hall streets.
