Inspired To Travel And Explore
Dwight Sunflower 4-H Club›
(Editor’s note-This is the first in a series of articles by members of the Morris County 4-H Ambassadors about how 4-H has inspired them. These articles were written in celebration of National 4-H week, October 6-12.)
Through 4-H I have tried new projects, traveled to different states and learned so much. This summer I went to Washington D.C. for Citizen Washington Focus. Through this trip I learned so much about 4-H on a higher level, the Government and the history of The United States. This has inspired me to become more involved in what is happening in our Country and about American History.
I didn’t realize how much I liked learning about history as well as, current events. Without 4-H I would never have went to Washington D.C. and learned as much as I did. I would have never become interested in the Government. I also did not know you could still be involved in 4-H programs out of high school. When we went to D.C. there were college kids leading us who run the CWF all summer. They told us about how far 4-H has taken them. I have also been inspired to travel more by this trip. I learned a lot about other states such as Michigan, Connecticut and Ohio through the kids I met from those states. Also the places we stopped along the way such as Annapolis, Maryland, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and St. Louis, Missouri were such awesome places to visit and learn about.
