Shelly Lautt, Morris County Public Works Co-Director, has received a new update from KDOT. The partial closure of K-177 South from Council Grove has been delayed until spring of 2026. The county changed their message boards earlier today to give the new closing date.
The 2025 Kaw Nation Intertribal Powwow will be held Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, at Allegawaho Memorial Heritage Park, located at 1645 South 525 Road near Council Grove. This signature cultural event is open to all and promises a weekend of vibrant tradition, community, and celebration.

The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, at 9 a.m. Commissioners Wayne Kohler, Jim Barber and David Fox were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
