The Morris County Historical Society recently received a significant addition to its archives with the donation of a research project by Jan Koepke of Council Grove. A member of the Council Oak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the chapter’s Defense Committee Chair, Koepke conducted a detailed study on seven known African American Civil War veterans buried at the Dunlap Colored Cemetery.
A year of planning, prayer, and persistence has blossomed into a licensed daycare business for Alta Vista resident Brandi Stanley, who opened Growing in the Garden Daycare, LLC in November 2024. Operated from her home, Stanley’s daycare offers local families much-needed, dependable care— something she recognized was in short supply in her rural community.
PLACING 5TH IN THE NATION . . .Riley Forge, daughter of Matt and Lindsey Forge, placed 5th in the United States in the Sales Presentation category at the national Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) conference, which was held this week in Anaheim, California.
