The Council Grove High School Braves basketball team opened home play Friday night, January 9, hosting the Osage City Indians, but struggled offensively in a 54–29 loss.
The Council Grove High School Lady Braves had eight grapplers entered in Friday’s girls’ division of the Charles McMillin Tournament in Herington.
After more than three decades of manufacturing operations in Council Grove, A/C Enterprises, Inc. , best known for its DreamSteamer commercial garment steamers, has ceased production, and the company’s longtime facility at 510 Spencer Street is now being offered for sale. There has already been keen interest in the property, which is listed by Council Grove Realty. An on-site auction of equipment and contents is scheduled for Saturday, January 24.
Matthew Algeo, host of Morning Edition on Kansas Public Radio, will be visiting Council Grove on Monday and Tuesday, January 12–13.
The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. Commissioners David Fox, Jim Barber, and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
