Council Grove Junior High wrestlers competed at the 2026 Southeast of Saline Junior High Scramble on February 9 in Gypsum, Kansas, turning in a strong overall performance highlighted by several firstplace finishes.

The USD 417 Board of Education held a regular meeting Monday, February 9, at the District Office, 17 Wood St., Council Grove. Board President Terry Powell was absent, and Vice President Patty Talley called the meeting to order and presided throughout the evening.

Boat, fishing and hunting show Feb. 20-22 in Topeka
The Sportsman’s Outfitter & Marine Boat Fishing & Hunting Show will be held Feb. 20–22 at the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, bringing together fishing, hunting, boating, and outdoor recreation vendors and exhibitors from across the region. The three-day event will feature fishing boats, pontoons, marine accessories, professional anglers, outdoor displays, and family-friendly attractions Among those participating in the show will be Phil Taunton, a Kansas- based outdoor educator, youth mentor, and radio host. Taunton hosts the program “What’s in Outdoors,” which focuses on encouraging families to engage in fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities as a way to build skills, confidence, and connections to the natural world.
