Desree Pettera, a Junction City-area rancher and business owner, has announced her candidacy for the Kansas House of Representatives in the 68th District. She will face incumbent Nathan Butler in the Republican primary. Pettera and her husband operate a registered Angus ranch just outside Junction City, a business they have managed for more than 40 years. In addition to ranching, Pettera has more than 12 years of experience in banking and finance, with a focus on commercial and agricultural lending. She also previously owned and operated a licensed water well pump installation business, serving both city and rural residents in southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas. She remains active in the Western art community nationwide.
Life Church Council Grove, 24 N. Union, has announced that Tony and Leann Garcia will serve as its new pastors, with their formal introduction set for the March 8 worship service.
