Kansas Supreme Court Justice Caleb Stegall visited Council Grove Jr./ Sr. High School Tuesday morning, speaking with junior and senior students about the foundations of law, government, and the American constitutional system. Stegall was introduced by District Magistrate Judge Laura Viar before addressing the students as part of the Kansas Supreme Court’s outreach program. During this trip, the court was scheduled to hear a case later that evening in Abilene.

The students of Council Grove Elementary School raised $6,631.93 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge, breaking the school record and beating the goal they set of $6,000. Mr. Finch, CGES physical education teacher, organizes the event each year. He shared, “I’m very proud of our students and how committed, inspired, and driven they were for a cause that is bigger than themselves. To put other humans first and learn to give back and spread love at a young age is something I hope they carry for the rest of their lives.”
