William Downes snapped this photo of sweet Williams growing in his yard west of Council Grove. Downes said that some of them have grown as high as three feet this year and stated that this is the highest he and his wife ever remember them growing. Sweet Williams are known by the scientific name Dianthus barbatus and were named for William, Duke of Cumberland.
