Another connection to Wolgast article

Following our recent article about the Wolgast family’s unexpected connection to a German prisoner of war, Council Grove resident Kelly McDiffett suggested another possible local connection. McDiffett, a member of the Council Grove High School Class of 1978, believes the Penny Clark whose 1985 thesis documented the story may be his former classmate, who grew up near Alta Vista, was the daughter of longtime Alta Vista State Bank president Fred Clark, and went on to a career in archival and historical research. The connection has not yet been confirmed.
